When should I apply to renew my student ikamet?
Renewal applications must be submitted via e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr within the 60 days BEFORE your current ikamet expires, AND in all cases BEFORE the expiry date.
Late renewal applications create serious legal-status risks.
- Mark your calendar at 60 days before expiry as the trigger to start your renewal — not the expiry date itself.
- Renewing on or after the expiry date risks fines and may invalidate your stay.
- Renewal goes through the same e-ikamet portal as the first application.
- The renewal also goes through your university — same process as first-time submission.
Open your current ikamet card. Note the expiry date. Set a calendar reminder for 60 days before that. When the reminder fires, start the renewal application immediately.
